Southeast ready to host district baseball tournament

Having one of its best seasons in years, the Southeast High baseball team will play host to the Class 3A-Dstrict tournament next week.

Southeast (13-9) has four players batting over the .300 mark led by Joseph Muldoon, who is hitting at a .438 clip with 18 RBIs. Cameron Cox is hitting .407 with a team leading 27 runs-batted-in, Michael Suchy is at .369 with 18 RBIs and Andres Ramirez at .328 with a team high 28 runs scored.

The second seed Seminoles will open tournament play Tuesday, April 26th against third seed Wauchula Hardee following the game between top seed Cardinal Mooney and the winner of the play-in game between DeSoto and Booker.

The championship game is scheduled for Thursday, April 28th. Cardinal Mooney is undefeated in its eight district games, Southeast is 6-2 followed by Hardee (4-4), DeSoto (2-6) and Booker (0-8).

Cardinal Mooney is 18-4 overall and has won five straight games. Southeast was on three game losing streaking heading into this week.
